Introducing neck mobility exercises.

For those of you we may have spoken to about improving your neck flexibility, here's a useful reference to follow.

Exercise 1. Sit up straight with your spine well supported by your chair. Rotate your head so that you are looking as far as you can towards your left shoulder. Hold for 10 seconds.

Slowly bring your head back to the middle and turn as far as you can so that you are looking towards your right shoulder. Hold for 10 seconds. Repeat 5 times in either direction.

Remember to hold your chin level during the exercise, do not allow your neck to extend backwards at the same time as you rotate.

Exercise 2. Sit with your shoulder blades touching your chair. Place your left hand under the seat of your chair and place your right hand on the crown of your head. Gently draw your head down and across towards your right knee until you feel a stretch at the back of the neck and shoulder. Your upper back should remain in contact with the chair.

Hold for 10 seconds and repeat to the other side. Alternate the exercise 3-4 times on either side.

Initially we suggest performing these exercises twice per day.

Remember to message us or talk to us if you are unsure about any aspect of your exercise and rehabilitation programme so we can help you get the very best out of it and help you recover as quickly as possible.
