30-01-2013 | Custom Made Orthotics at Gorey Family Chiropractic

Why Orthotics?
Poor foot mechanics can cause foot pain and unnecessary stresses further up the body, resulting in hip or knee pain, back pain, and even neck pain.

Custom made orthotics address the imbalances caused by improper foot function. They are engineered to your specific needs and can help to stabilise your recovery from injury or prevent injury by reducing strain.

Common problems improved by orthotics include:

•        Forefoot Pain (Metatarsalgia )
•        Arch Strain (Plantar Fasciitis)
•        Policeman’s Heel (Heel Spur)
•        Ankle Pain (Tibialis Dysfunction, Lateral Impingement Syndrome)
•        Shin Pain (Compartmental Syndrome, Shin Splints)
•        Knee Pain (Chondromalcia Patella, Patella Tibial Syndrome)

We have been referring those in need of orthotics to podiatrists for years. However, by working with industry leaders in orthotics -Tog Orthotics International (as worn by international sporting stars such as Katie Taylor and Novak Jokovich) we can now offer this service in-house, and at a much more affordable price for you.

Our Gaitscan system offer the most advanced method of analysing the distribution of force through the feet, whilst standing and walking. Recording over a million points of data, the scanning devices provide highly accurate readings of gait abnormalities.

The data from the computerised scan is sent off to a lab in Canada, where it is analysed and used to make your very own prescription orthotics. Unlike most foot insoles made from polypropylene, which has a short life span and flattens under constant stress, the orthotic foot insoles we provide are made from a unique memory plastic, which is guaranteed for life.

If you are having problems with your feet, gait or problems potentially related to them, our Gorey Clinic team are here to help. We have dealt with many similar cases and are on hand to answer any questions you may have, along with some suggestions on whether orthotics may help your particular problem.

If you are in the Wexford, Arklow, Wicklow or Carlow areas and  would like to book an appointment for a Gait scan assessment  or have your own orthotics engineered, please call our reception  team on 053 94 83338 or email
